Beowulf Medallion

Cast at Lunts Foundry in Birmingham, England, this 40 mm bronze medallion (weighing 28 g) was produced to celebrate the release of an illustrated limited edition of Beowulf. 

 Alice Cao’s original artwork for that edition appears on both faces of the medallion. The obverse shows Beowulf’s ship arriving through fierce winds, complete with a dragon‐head prow, a tail‐shaped stern, and shields lining its sides. The reverse depicts a period‐stylized dragon coiled with its wings spread.

 Around the rim are the words “Beowulf – Alice Cao – Books Illustrated – 2025.” Each piece is housed in a felt pouch bearing “Beowulf” on the front.

 Only fifty were cast, and some are included in the Octad Editions.
